Third Party Blackout

There is a popularly held myth that we live in a ‘democracy’, that this is a ‘free country’.  Many labor under the illusion that our government actually ‘represents’ the will of the people.  But in reality, the two major political parties have hijacked our freedom.  Their purpose is to wield power in order to steal taxpayer dollars.  They will say anything to sucker voters into supporting them.  The power structure exists because there is a lot of money to be made and persons in positions of influence can be bought off.

Historically, ‘third party’ candidates have had only a minor impact on election results, mainly in creating a spoiler effect, influencing the outcome by taking votes away from one of the major party candidates.  But at present neither the Democrats or Republicans have the confidence of a majority of voters.  Neither party is seen as being any more than ‘the lesser of two evils’.  In our current state of affairs many voters are looking to ‘third parties’ not simply for ‘fresh ideas’ but for candidates and a party platform that actually represents their values, hopes and dreams.

As newsworthy as this phenomenon is, we hear relatively little about it from the ‘lamestream media’.  That is because the traditional print and broadcast media are owned and operated by those with a … shall we say, a pronounced political agenda, rather than the desire to inform the public.  That is why readership and viewer-ship has declined in the traditional media, while  the internet and talk radio have become the main source of news for the majority of disgruntled Americans.  Yet, it still remains easier to receive mainstream propaganda at convenient times than to arrange one’s own time to listen to certain talk shows or to go on line to look for articles you can’t find elsewhere.

It takes determination and commitment to ferret out ‘alternative’ views of the news.  The average voter doesn’t have that.  Most voters are swayed by ‘group think’, like high schoolers pulling for their home football team.  They vote for the such-and-such party because they always have.  Their friends and families always have.  It’s tradition, like religion or ethnicity.  It’s “my party, right or wrong”, like chauvinism gone awry.

The net result of ‘two party’ politics is that at a time in our history when freedom needs a transfusion of new leadership with a new vision, those who stand up to offer us just that are not being heard by the masses.  Ignorance is what guarantees that the two major parties maintain power and control.

Here is an example of how the media helps to perpetuate this two-party dictatorship:

NIGHTINGALE FOR GOVERNOR CAMPAIGN EXPERIENCING MEDIA BLACKOUT

Thursday, September 09, 2010

Lodi, California

We were all very excited last night to hear that the local broadcast media, News 10 ABC, was interested in interviewing Chelene for a piece to air on the 11:00 News.  Chelene and the crew stepped up their pace, double-time to make it back to the hotel by 8pm for the scheduled interview time.  They marched from Ripon to Lodi, 30 miles in 10 hours, along back country roads while pushing Chelene in her wheelchair.  Despite previously being behind schedule, they rolled into the hotel at 7:55pm.

The reporter with his camera showed up at about 8:30 and the interview went well!  Will Frampton from ABC News 10 was a gentleman and commended Chelene on an interview well done.  We had dinner and geared up for Chelene’s first TV spot.

I received a call from Will at about 10:45pm, stating that as a reporter who conducted the interview, he felt it was his duty to inform us that Chelene’s spot would not be aired.  The producer had decided to instead bump us because a basketball player was arrested for beating up his girlfriend.  That was the excuse anyway.  I don’t believe it.

We have had confirmation from confidential sources that specifically, the LA Times has a policy of blacking out the Nightingale for Governor Campaign, that reporters and employees are not to speak of her, that they are not to report on her.  The blackout is in effect.  We have to call them out and DEMAND a free press.  We have to DEMAND that they stop controlling the information.  DEMAND that they report the news, instead of pandering to special interests and politicians who buy them.

We are now looking into buying advertising; radio, print and television.  We need your help.  Please donate to the campaign so that we can overcome this media blackout.  Time is running out.  https://nightingale.netboots.net/contribute

If you would like to contact ABC News 10, please be kind and to the point.  Demand that they provide you with REAL news, that sensationalism is for the Inquirer.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed their time, money and efforts during this March to Save California.  Your support is priceless.  Nothing is too small.

About retiredday

I am Michael D. Day, a regular, everyday guy -- retired. I stand for God-given freedom, which means I think for myself. I believe in being civil, because the Bible teaches that we should love our enemies. But I also believe in saying it how I see it, and explaining just why I see it that way, sort of like 2 Timothy 4:2.
