Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
— Albert Einstein
9/11 has come and gone. Ten years. A lot of people have had a lot to say about it — from the President to the slob on the street, and all the pundits in between. But I can’t get out of my head the echoing chatter of ten years ago. “America will never be the same”; “Our lives have been changed forever.”
Phrases like that can mean whatever you want, but carry the weight of some vague, ominous prophecy. And so, it was said for effect. And Americans seemed to collectively sigh. At the time, I hoped the change would be for the better. Maybe now America would stand for something. Maybe now America would unite and destroy Islamic terrorists.
Well, that didn’t happen. Instead, after ten years, three wars, record spending and record economic losses — and political correctness up the ying yang — all I see is more of the same (MOTS). In general, I’m disgusted with our elected officials. They’ve all had ample opportunity to show their true colors, and very few have been shown to have our best interests at heart. They talk the talk but don’t walk the walk.
Finally, the average, middle class citizens (in the form of “Tea Parties”) make an attempt to be heard, and they are vilified as racists and Nazis. In fact, anything and everything that smacks of good old-fashioned conservatism is attacked as bigoted, evil, or ignorant. These are citizens who work, pay taxes and obey the law. They deserve to have their values represented in a free country, not demonized by representatives who only care about illegal aliens and those on the government dole.
Oh, the Democrats and Republicans put on a show, but it’s all show and no go. On issues that affect everyone, on a national level, what used to be the two “major” parties have become the two exclusive members of the congressional country club, where status quo is the watchword, and they could care less what the common citizen thinks. As Al Gore has said, there is no debate. Just something to distract the kiddies. MOTS, all the way.
But what disgusts me most of all isn’t the lying elected officials who act like a third world ruling class, or the media, who have switched out journalism with propaganda and who’s main objective is to keep the public too busy thinking of fluff to be informed as to what is really happening. What really disgusts me is the non-thinking public.
Edmund Burke said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” And while I wouldn’t go so far as to call them “good”, there are far too many main stream American citizens who are doing nothing about our national devolution from capitalism to communism.
Most of all, too many Americans are ignoring our Constitution. It’s one thing for those in government to ignore the Constitution, but when they do, we have the power to vote them out, if we only had the will to do so. Citizens have the right and the power to hold their feet to the fire. But nothing of the like happens. Instead, the Constitution is twisted and perverted to mean what it doesn’t mean. Even the highest court of the land has violated the Constitution.
Supposedly, America will make its choice in 2012 for just how they want their nation run. But if I were a betting man, I’d say we’ll just have MOTS. I’m pretty fed up. But I’m not a betting man. I’m a praying man. And I pray that in another ten years we won’t be in the poor house, with rationed power, water, food, healthcare, etc. all being paid for by higher, more confiscatory taxation of Ameros, worth much less than the old Dollars were.
So, what do you want, MOTS? If so, don’t bother to vote.
